The Center for International Strategies, office linked to the Presidency of the University of Fortaleza, is in charge of managing and coordinating the agreements that facilitate the legal realization of these international relations and collaborations.

There are different types of agreements for the different types of activities that can be carried out within the framework of an agreement.

TYPES OF AGREEMENTS

General Agreement

The general agreement commits the institutions as a whole to promote the exchange of students, faculty and staff, and the development of scientific and technological research.

Specific Agreement

The specific agreement commits and defines at a higher level of clarity the projects and actions in which the institutions will work together, which may be research, mobility or other.

Memorandum of Understanding

The Memorandum of Understanding is a statement of intent to act toward a common goal without legally binding either party. It serves to establish general principles of action to guide the relationship between the parties, in principle without creating obligations as such.

It is political in nature and is often useful for establishing cooperative relations on the basis of which an agreement containing more specific commitments is to be signed at a later date.

Double Degree Agremeent

Agreement by which the academic degree is obtained from the home university and the partner university.

The agreement must establish the conditions of co-supervision in the case of joint thesis supervision and the granting of the corresponding degree recognition (identification of the student, supervisors and responsible persons, periods, insurance, training, if any, etc.) according to the policies, regulations or protocols of the university.

Cotutelle

Agreement by which the thesis work of a doctoral student will be supervised by academics from the University of Fortaleza and a partner university. The agreement must establish the conditions of the co-supervision (identification of the student, supervisors and responsible persons, periods, insurance, training, if any, etc., among others).

Co-supervision does not necessarily imply the granting of a double or joint degree, although this could be defined in the same agreement if the parties so agree.
